DHS Academies (ALL) are looking to have an Advisory Council that would meet next year (during the school day), and all academy partners, parents, students, business, etc would have input. This change in times would allow more business involvement. We would start as an academy whole group (welcome) and would then break into clusters (Health, Marketing, and Graphic Arts).

Standard 5: Enrollment

Standard 6: Pure Schedule
Based on our assessment of courses at the beginning of this school year, the HSA team and DHS Administration have agreed for next year to have the following courses "coded" for the HSA, based on the fact that we have many students who chose Dual-Enrollment and/or Advanced Placement courses, which then impact our Junior and Senior level core classes. Beginning with the 2015-2016 school year the following courses will be recommended and coded as HSA courses (and the teachers who teach these courses have been contacted and are "on board"): Biology Honors, Chemistry Honors, Marine Science Honors (11th or 12 grade), AP Biology (11th or 12th grade), AP Chemistry (11th or 12th grade), English 3 Honors. This will help alleviate the senior English core course coding that we have struggled to keep numbers in based on our students wishing to challenge themselves by dual-enrolling or taking the AP English courses. In addition, this will help maintain the "science" focus, while also infusing the English 3 Honors course their Junior year.

Currently, since the English 4 Honors course is coded as our core class for Seniors, we have the following break-down of numbers; hence why we are making the transition for next year! 10 in AP Senior English, 3 in English 4 Honors (all online), 1 in English 4 (online), 12 in PERT English (state mandate), and 4 dual-enrolled at DSC.
