Standard 1: Integrated Curriculum / Projects

Upper level academy students prepared their "Community Awareness" presentation and presented their lesson to our 9th grade academy students. The sophomore and senior students had to prepare the entire less/unit and provide activities for the 9th graders to keep them focused and motivated; an integrated unit within academy courses which kept on track with the current curriculum map/track.

12-13 Academy Advisory Meeting

With all the turn over in teachers this year, a lot of the documentation and meetings fell on me throughout the year. Unfortunately, with that being said, all of our contact with businesses occurred via e-mail and telephone calls, and informal meetings. E-mail documentation is availble through my e-mail files/folders.

In addition to our mandatory district staff development, we at DHS also have had in place mandatory PLC planning time where the academy teachers have met throughout the school year. These meetings have been documented through our CTE and other various department heads. Of course, we often times communicate through e-mail to keep abreast of the new changes and student concerns that may be happenning in our individual academy classrooms (core and elective). With the many changes in our upper level academy instructor this year (3 different teachers), I have spent much time meeting indvidually with the new teacher often times to review academy policies, procedures, requirements, etc.
